Microsoft Hints At Increasing Competition In The Mobile App Stores By Starting Its Own Venture
For a number of years, software giant Microsoft was seen working hard in
terms of making its Windows Phone and respective Mobile a success.
It
always wanted to give rise to a new and improved operating system that
would serve as the ultimate competition to both Apple and Google. Their
iOS and Android systems are the most popular and successful around the
world.
But it failed in that respect and just could not compete, leading to a major shutdown that arose in 2019.
However,
if you think Microsoft has given up already, well, we’ve got some news
for you. It still wants to compete with its archrivals but the only
difference now is that it wants to do just that in the mobile app store
domain.
Yes, the company’s lead for Xbox mentioned
how he did have plans to buy Activision Blizzard despite facing great
concerns against it from regulators in the government. He further says
that those people don’t understand the game well and it’s useless
explaining to them.
And right after that, he did not waste any
time in terms of speaking about how the company had major plans to
become a dominant player that would compete against the App Store and
the Google Play Store for app downloads.
They wish to create a
rival service offering that begins with gaming and ends with third-party
options for various devices. But it’s just a thought for now and they
do hope to work on it in the future.
For now, the report does
not give out too much other information about the mobile app store
offering and how exactly Microsoft wants it to work.
As it is,
the software giant has another cloud gaming offering that gives Android
owners and iOS owners the chance to play and get access to more than 100
Xbox games.
They do hope to further expand on that front with
this new project of a mobile app store, right after it completes the
idea of merging with Activision Blizzard. But even if the latter does
not prove to be successful, we’re going to see it go ahead with the
respective Xbox business.
Xbox knows that this acquisition is
very crucial for the firm but if not, then the company would continue to
exist and fight across different fronts.
