Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai (Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary) horror manga is officially getting an anime adaptation. The story is set in a kindergarten and begins when Ms. Chie, tasked with supervising the troublemaker Kaya-chan, discovers her hidden powers. You can see Kaya-chan in the teaser visual for the anime below.
Taro Yuri writes and draws the Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai manga series. It began serialization on Shinchosha’s Kurage Bunch website in April 2022, and it is set to release the latest volume (Volume 6) on November 9. To commemorate the anime announcement, the author drew a special illustration featuring Kaya-chan.
The author also left a comment regarding the anime, thanking fans for the support and inviting them to look forward to future updates. You can read it in full below.
“Thanks to the support and efforts of readers and everyone involved, the anime adaptation—something I never dreamed would happen—has come true! I can hardly believe it…! Thank you so much! Stay tuned for more updates! —Yuri Taro”
As we wait for the Kaya-chan anime, horror fans can check out the Mieruko-chan series which recently got an anime (and currently has a live-action movie in production).
