New Expert Analysis Says Google’s Bard Is Worse Than ChatGPT As It Underwhelms Early Testers

 

Google has a lot of expectations from its latest launch of the AI-powered chatbot Bard.

The company recently launched Bard for beta testing while declaring that there will be errors as it’s not an alternative for search but a tool used to assist with the search.  

For so long, the tech giant was criticized for spending so much time to launch the chatbot while other archrivals including Microsoft were making waves with its Bing Search. But Google failed to pay heed and wanted to make sure it was as near to perfection as possible.

Despite all of their painstaking efforts and much delay, it appears that still, the Bard tool might not be able to live up to the hype and expectations that were generated for so long.

Bard really needed to step up its game to compete with the likes of OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Bing and it might not be there yet as proven by new expert analysis.

The potential popularity or should we say the lack of popularity would have serious effects on the search leadership possessed by Google. After all, it currently stands as the top name in today’s cutting-edge world of technology.

But so far, it wouldn’t be wrong to mention that there are no huge positive signs.

Google started the process of beta testing on Tuesday and it really opened up its Bard to the universe by calling out users in the US and the UK region to come forward and sign up to use the tool. The goal is to open up access for now and then expand further in this regard in the future.

Google mentioned how its product right now is in the early initial phase of trial and it allows users to make use of the world of generative AI. But you need to be 18 and above, possess a Google account, and make use of supported browsers too.

But the first batch of early testers are not happy with what was put forward in front of them. They compared it to the ChatGPT technology launched by OpenAI and found it to be extremely underwhelming.

Its early, but Google's Bard does not seem as capable as a learning tool as Bing or GPT-4. In our paper on AI and teaching, we outline some AI prompts that can help. Not only does Bard not do interactive prompts, but the results are poor so far.

This lackluster debut is not what Google may have hoped for obviously. As it is, the demo launch seen in the previous month saw the platform dent a mega $100 billion crater into Alphabet’s valuation as shares went plummeting.

And we can only imagine what sort of damage this can do for the company as it fails to live up to the hype and is deemed inferior to ChatGPT and Bing.
